Hi, Brian.
I'm excited to share that my first novel, Finding June, has been published by MiddleRoad Publishing. It has taken many years and a lot of input from the Thursday Afternoon Intensive Creative Writing class and you!
Having always thought of writing as a worthwhile, though challenging hobby, I didn't set out to be published. However, now I'm thrilled to be the author of an actual book!
Thanks for all your help!
Wendy
Note: We have space in the Thursday afternoon class this fall (here). Or why wait? You can still sign up for the Tuesday evening online Intensive class this summer (here).
Finding June by Wendy Simpson
June Walker has been a bit absent-minded lately: misplaced eyeglasses, forgotten lunch dates – nothing to worry about … right? Even when issued the implacable diagnosis of dementia, June chalks it up to old age, until a rainy day walk in the woods scares her into the realization that she really is becoming lost from herself.
Always independent, June riles against her worry-wort husband Nick’s decision to retire – she doesn’t need a nursemaid – and is concerned about her feuding children; one an alcoholic and the other an uptight bossy-pants. June has lived her whole life for her family. Now they are absent, damaged and angry.
June has no grand plan, no real strategy or contrivance to mend the cracks in her family; she just wants them all together. And, in spite of her cognitive frailty or maybe because of it, she just might get it done. But time is running out.
Wendy Simpson lives and sells real estate in Oakville. Although her university days are long behind her she’s never lost her love of reading. She is the mother of three adult children and four grandchildren. She travels as much as possible and loves to spend several weeks each year in Victoria and the Cayman Islands.
Finding June is available here.

The synopsis makes me want to read your book. Congratulations.
Congratulations, Wendy! I’m so happy for you!
I think the synopsis was so well done! It sounds like a meaningful story about family, love and caring for oneself.
